The work people choose is often connected to the realities they refuse to ignore.”
My journey into this work was never rooted in simply building a career. It was rooted in understanding people, systems, trauma, resilience, conflict, and the long-term impact that environments and experiences have on individuals, families, and communities.
Before entering the helping profession, I served in the United States Army as a Human Resources Sergeant within the Adjutant General Corps, where I gained firsthand experience in leadership, structure, crisis management, personnel support, accountability systems, and the importance of organizational stability under pressure.
That experience strengthened my understanding of leadership, operational systems, communication, and the human impact of environments that either support or fail the people within them.
I later earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, where my interest in human behavior, social structures, inequality, and community systems began to deepen further. I then obtained my Master of Social Work (MSW), with a specialization in trauma-focused practice, which expanded my work in mental health, emotional wellness, family systems, and healing-centered intervention.
As my professional path continued evolving, I pursued advanced studies in conflict resolution, systems leadership, and organizational dynamics, ultimately earning my PhD in Human and Social Services with a specialization in Conflict Management and Negotiation.
My doctoral research focused on:
Prevalent Themes of Messages Related to Sexual Risk Behaviors Targeting Young Black Women in Social Media.
That research deepened my passion for prevention, culturally responsive education, emotional safety, media influence, identity development, and understanding how systems and messaging shape long-term outcomes for individuals and communities.
In addition to my clinical and academic background, I am also:
• a Credentialed Sexually Abusive Youth Clinician (CSAYC),
• an Indiana State Registered Mediator,
• and a professional deeply committed to strengthening individuals, families, leadership systems, and communities through ethical, trauma-informed, and prevention-focused work.
Throughout my professional journey, I have worked alongside individuals, families, youth, professionals, and organizations navigating:
• trauma,
• conflict,
• domestic violence,
• systems involvement,
• emotional exhaustion,
• leadership challenges,
• family instability,
• and generational barriers.
Over time, one truth became increasingly clear:
Many of the struggles people face are not isolated incidents. They are connected to larger systems, environments, learned behaviors, leadership cultures, unresolved trauma, communication patterns, and survival-based responses that quietly shape how people function, lead, parent, protect themselves, and seek support.
I also recognized that many individuals—particularly within underserved and historically marginalized communities—are often expected to survive overwhelming circumstances without adequate education, emotional support, preventative resources, or culturally responsive systems in place.
That realization shifted my work beyond traditional service delivery alone.
It deepened my passion for:
• prevention-focused education,
• emotionally intelligent leadership,
• healthy conflict resolution,
• community restoration,
• youth empowerment,
• trauma-informed systems,
• and sustainable healing-centered practices.
Today, my work exists at the intersection of psychotherapy, mediation, systems strategy, speaking, prevention, and leadership development.
Whether working with individuals, organizations, schools, professionals, or communities, my goal remains the same:
To help create healthier systems, stronger communication, emotionally safer environments, and sustainable pathways for growth, accountability, healing, and transformation.
Because people deserve more than survival.
They deserve support, dignity, understanding, and the opportunity to heal forward.
I envision communities, institutions, and systems where:
• people are supported before crisis escalates
• leadership includes emotional intelligence and accountability
• youth are taught healthy communication and conflict resolution early
• survivors are believed and supported with dignity
• professionals are equipped to serve sustainably
• prevention becomes just as important as intervention
• and healing is integrated into how systems operate—not separated from it.
Healing-centered systems do not remove accountability.
They strengthen it by addressing the root causes that continue to impact individuals, families, and communities across generations.
